Are you fascinated by robots?  Have you ever built a robot?  Some local high school students have and now it's time for the competition to begin.  It's the 6th year to watch "Battle of the Bots" at Lake Superior College.   Come support the students who built the "bots" and cheer on your favorite!!

They're loud, they’re mean, and they’re built from raw, unforgiving steel.

“They” are robots, and they’re created, concepted and remote-controlled by LSC students and area high school students who want nothing more than turn their opponent into a heaping pile of rubble.

On Wednesday, May 2, Lake Superior College is sponsoring the 6th annual Northeast Robotics “Battle of the Bots." The event will feature 15-pound combat robots competing in a 12-foot by 12-footplexiglass arena. In addition to five teams hailing from LSC, tournament organizers anticipate that eight area high school teams will compete. Possible participating schools include Mesabi East, Grand Rapids, Hibbing and Proctor.

Students hope their robot will create a spectacle not typically seen in a college setting.

This year’s event will at LSC's Commons Area. Competition begins around 10 a.m. and continues until a champion is crowned. The event is FREE and open to the public.
