American Birkebeiner Trail Named Best Cross-Country Ski Destination in the United States

A popular Northland destination received a national honor as the American Birkebeiner Trail was named the number one cross-country ski destination in the nation as voted by USA TODAY’s 10Best Readers' Choice travel award contest.

According to the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation, the American Birkebeiner ski race was separately awarded the 2016 Champions of Economic Impact in Sports Tourism.

If you have yet to ski "Birkie" trail, which is over 60 miles and cuts through Bayfield and Sawyer Counties in Wisconsin, try to get out there this winter.

I have been there in the summer, but I've personally decided that this winter I will learn to cross-country ski and I expect to see you out there on this award-winning trail.
