What Are The Top Party Schools In Minnesota? Here Is Where UMD And The Rest Rank
We all know this shouldn't be the first thing considered when picking a school, but the social scene can certainly play a role in the decision of some when it comes to selecting a college or university. A recent ranking from Niche.com ranked Minnesota's top party schools, and Duluth's UMD shows up toward the top of that list.
Here's how Niche.com says they developed the ranking:
They factored in student surveys on the party scene, access to bars and restaurants, Greek life on campus, and the performance of the school's athletics programs to calculate the rankings.
When it comes to Minnesota schools, most people think of St. Cloud State, MSU Mankato, and the U of M as the schools with the party reputation. Not much of a surprise that all of those schools show up in the top 5. Here's how the top 10 schools around the state ranked:
- University of Minnesota (Twin Cities)
- Minnesota State University - Mankato
- Winona State University
- University of St. Thomas
- St. Cloud State University
- University of Minnesota - Duluth
- Augsburg University
- College of St. Benedict
- Macalester College
- Saint John's University
The College of St. Scholastica showed up at #12 on the list, and my Alma Mater Bemidji State University showed up at #14.
In case you're curious, UMD ranks #3 overall among public universities in Minnesota overall (not just on the party scene), pulling an A for their athletics program ranking, an A- when it comes to value, and a A- for location. You can see the full grade from Niche here.
When it comes to the College of St. Scholastica's overall school ranking, they are called the #9 best value in colleges in Minnesota. The highest marks for CSS are for for value (A) and location (A-). You can see the full Niche report card here.
