A group out kayaking on Lake Superior in Michigan's Upper Peninsula almost had their beautiful day turn tragic when a large section of a sandstone cliff collapsed right next to them.

Photographers Jon Smithers and Craig Blacklock were in the area as it happened and captured the amazing video above, which was shared on Jon Smither's YouTube channel.

Our media partners at WDIO-TV are reporting that one of the kayak guides told a Michigan television station that smaller rocks had fallen near the group before the massive section fell.  As the large section fell, they were in the process of paddling away and it missed them by about 50 feet.

Thankfully nobody was hurt, photographers were there to capture the amazing shot and now the video has gone viral for all to see.

Meanwhile, kayakers everywhere will think twice before paddling close to cliffs in Lake Superior.
