Tropical Depression Cristobal Makes History In Wisconsin

Did you ever think we'd see a tropical storm of any kind in Wisconsin? Probably not - but it happened!

The remnants of Tropical Depression Cristobal made its way north Tuesday (June 9th) and left a big impression on Wisconsin. It also seems to have broken a few records along the way!

For starters, according to WTMJ-TV out of Milwaukee, this is just the "fourth time on record that a tropical system has tracked across Wisconsin."

It looks like that isn't the only record Cristobal broke when it hit Wisconsin. According to WKOW News out of Madison, this is the "farthest northwest a tropical system has ever gotten in North America." Their report says that while we have seen similar situations in the state in the past, as stated above, they haven't made it to that particular part of Wisconsin.

Last but not least, parts of Wisconsin also saw low pressure records thanks to the remnants of Tropical Depression Cristobal. The National Weather Service of Milwaukee shared an example of this on their Twitter account Wednesday (June 10th), writing the following:

Wow! I guess anything is possible in 2020. Ha!

Meteorologists in the area were predicting these impacts ahead of Tropical Depression Cristobal. I spoke to WDIO Meteorologist Taylor Dayton on Monday (June 8th) ahead of the storm and he predicted we would see heavy rain and flooding concerns across the Northland. It looks like he was right!

On the bright side, it looks like the Old Farmer's Almanac was right with their predictions for the first ten days of June.
