Thanksgiving is less than three weeks away, and it's been a tradition at the DECC to serve people a delicious Thanksgiving meal. However with the coronavirus pandemic, we can't have large gatherings of people. The good news is that organizers are still offering delivery of meals. They have done this in the past for homebound people who couldn't get to the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center (DECC). Now, this will be the primary way to feed people with the help of volunteers making the deliveries.

Anyone wishing to receive a meal can sign up for the delivery ahead of time by doing an online registration form. Alternatively, you can call them to reserve your meal delivery at (218) 723-6484. You have until Thursday, November 19 to sign up so organizers can anticipate the amount of meals needed. This is a new method and I can imagine it is difficult to estimate how much food they will need.

The College Of St. Scholastica who hosts the event yearly says on their event website that they are aware of many people who have lost income during the pandemic, and may need a Thanksgiving meal now more than ever. They are also working with Northern Lakes Second Harvest Food Bank to provide families with a Thanksgiving meal kit for them to prepare at home if they wish.

The deliveries on Thanksgiving day are available to residents in Duluth, Superior, Proctor, Hermantown, Esko, Cloquet, and Two Harbors.

You can also visit the College of St. Scholastica's website if you would like to make a donation to support this worthy cause. A $40 contribution can sponsor a family in need.
