As of mid-July, things are pretty dire in terms of drought conditions.

We could definitely use more rain before the month is over.

Here's what the Old Farmer's Almanac is predicting.

The severe drought that much of the nation has been experience is causing another problem:  Bears scavenging for food in the west.  Calls of bears being a nuisance has risen, and often times they are breaking into homes and grocery stores.

The drought in the south will soon have impact on our pocketbooks here in the Northland.  It appears it's not just peanuts but related products such as peanut butter that will cost more this fall.   This year’s peanut crop is projected to drop 13 percent from last year, according to the United States Department of Agriculture.
