Survey Finds The #1 Fear Of Seniors Isn’t Death

Pfizer recently did a survey that would shake hopefully shake things up and have people talking about aging.  They asked questions about aging to a wide rang of people.  Perhaps one of the most surprising results was older Americans were more afraid of living in pain or losing independence than dying.   Only 7% listed dying as the biggest fear, compared to 64% for living with pain/suffering.  What else did the survey say?

Asked how they feel about getting old, the top choice was "optimistic" (39%). But not far behind was "uneasy" (36%). About 42% of those 50 to 64 are optimistic, the highest percentage of any age group.

Another interesting finding from the study was that 51% of younger people would be fine with a parent living with them as they aged, while only %25 of the parents would want to.

Older people seem to be more relaxed and happier, no longer worrying about "the rat race."
