The 2020 Minnesota Vikings campaign is not lacking of things to complain about. Losing record. Terrible quarterback play. Questionable coaching decisions. Lackluster defensive performances. I could go on, but I'm sure you can fill in the blanks.

Even beyond this year, the Vikings have a history of infamous letdowns that can be summarized with phrases like "41-0", "'98 NFC Championship", and "Blair Walsh". Then there's the lengthy string of awful quarterback play over many of the last couple decades. Despite the target-rich environment for complaints, a survey from betting website Mibets.com says Vikings fans are among the least likely to complain. Wait until you see where the Packers land on the list.

What Mibets did to come up with this data is survey fans across all teams in the league to "determine which NFL players, coaches and fanbases complain the most". They conducted the survey this fall, during the NFL season, but they don't specifically just speak to this season alone. Their metrics include a ranking of worst complainers, as well as the top annoying habit or complaint.

Of all 32 teams, the Minnesota Vikings fanbase landed (amazingly) at #26 on the list. That puts them at 7th least complaining fanbases in the entire league. Color me surprised. On the subject of what the most annoying habit or complaint among Vikings fans is, the survey identified "using the victim mentality". I'd agree with that. It also happens to be the most common annoying trait - by a long shot.

Among all 32 teams, here's how the top annoying trait shook out:

  1. Using the victim mentality: 53% (17 fanbases)
  2. Complaining of "bad officiating": 22% (7 fanbases)
  3. Complaining on social media: 16% (5 fanbases)
  4. Complaining about old losses: 6% (2 fanbases)
  5. Complaining on sports radio: 3% (1 fanbase)

When it comes to team fanbases that complain least, here is the top 10:

  1. Tampa Bay Buccanneers
  2. Jacksonville Jaguars
  3. Tennessee Titans
  4. Indianapolis Colts
  5. Los Angeles Rams
  6. Cincinnati Bengals
  7. Minnesota Vikings
  8. Kansas City Chiefs
  9. Denver Broncos
  10. New Orleans Saints

Notice someone missing from the low complainers on the list? Yup. The Green Bay Packers are on the other end of the spectrum. Granted, they fall a little closer to the middle of the pack (no pun intended), they still fall on the bigger complainers side of the halfway mark.

Here are the biggest complainers in the NFL:

  1. Dallas Cowboys
  2. New England Patriots
  3. Buffalo Bills
  4. Chicago Bears
  5. Philadelphia Eagles
  6. Carolina Panthers
  7. New York Jets
  8. Arizona Cardinals
  9. New York Giants
  10. Atlanta Falcons
  11. Baltimore Ravens
  12. Washington Football Team
  13. Green Bay Packers

So, what is Green Bay's most annoying habit? Using the victim mentality.

Must be rough having 28 straight years of Hall of Fame quarterbacks playing for your team. I digress. The inner Vikings fan in me had to play my victim mentality card (which, as a reminder, is also the Vikings fanbase's most annoying trait).

Other metrics Mibets ranked included which coaches and quarterbacks complained most. Kirk Cousins, Mike Zimmer and Matt LaFleur don't pop up as top complainers, but but Aaron Rodgers is ranked as the 4th biggest complainer (hahaha) in the quarterback field. Eh hem. Sorry, my inner Vikings fan got the best of me there for a second again.
