When the Green Bay Packers signed running back Josh Jacobs in March of 2024, it was one of the most talked-about moves of that NFL offseason.

Jacobs arrived from the Las Vegas Raiders on a four-year, $48 million deal and immediately made good on every dollar of it.

In his first season in Green Bay, he rushed for 1,329 yards and 15 touchdowns, earned Pro Bowl honors, and set the record for the most rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, and total touchdowns by a Packer in their first season with the team.

In 2025, he added 929 more yards and 13 additional touchdowns. By any measure, Packers fans had reason to feel good about where things were headed going into 2026.

However, the alleged events on Saturday, May 23, have raised considerable concern.

Josh Jacobs Arrested

Reports indicate the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department in Wisconsin responded to a disturbance complaint involving Jacobs on the morning of Saturday, May 23.

Following an investigation, Jacobs was arrested on Tuesday, May 26, and booked into Brown County Jail on five charges.

According to jail records, those charges include felony strangulation and suffocation, along with four misdemeanor counts of battery/domestic abuse, criminal damage to property/domestic abuse, disorderly conduct/domestic abuse, and intimidation of a victim.

The bond was reportedly set at $1,350, and a court appearance was expected on Wednesday afternoon. The investigation, per police, remains active and ongoing.

Jacobs and the Packers Respond

Through his attorneys, Jacobs denied all allegations. His legal team issued a statement asking for "fairness and restraint" while the judicial process takes its course.

The Green Bay Packers released a brief statement in response, saying the organization is aware of the matter but would withhold further comment given the ongoing legal situation. The NFL issued a similar statement, confirming awareness of the situation.

Jacobs, 28, remains under contract with Green Bay through the 2027 season. As with any active legal matter, charges are not convictions, and the case is expected to proceed through the courts in the weeks ahead.
