I have been trying to keep up on all the scams in the Northland (can't believe how many there are) and I'm grateful when one I wasn't aware of is brought to my attention.  THIS time, I have a warning from the Superior Douglas County Area Chamber of Commerce.  Read and be aware!

It was reported by area businesses that someone is calling and claiming to be calling on behalf of the "American Chamber of Commerce".  During the call they ask to verify basic business information, your address, business name, main contact names, phone numbers etc.

These calls are in no way affiliated with the Superior Douglas County Area Chamber of Commerce and you should NOT give out any information!

One of the businesses that received such a call began to question the caller and they became agitated and rude.  That is a sure sign that you should red flag that call and not give information until you verify the true identify of the caller.  The report indicates that they may hang up if you continue to press them with questions.

Dave Minor, President and CEO of the Superior Douglas County Chamber of Commerce says "For future reference we will contact you if we plan on partnering with outside groups who may be calling you on our behalf."

Thank you to Dave and his staff for being vigilant in warning us of the scam.  The best advice is to keep your guard up and don't give out personal or business information unless you have verified to whom you are sharing it with.
