Scam alert! Anything that has to do with any animal of any kind will immediately turn me into a puddle. I know I am not the only one.

Scammers seem to have caught on to this fact and as a result, there is a new scam going around in Wisconsin that has to do with missing pets. Having a missing pet is one of the most stress-inducing things that can happen, and devastating as well.

So how does this scam work? Scammers reach out to someone on social media who may have shared that their pet is missing or lost. Scammers see this as an opportunity to make some money.

The scammers will say they are from a company that specializes in finding missing pets but they need a fee upfront. We all know what happens next: this is a scam!

Unfortunately, with the popularity of AI, it is easy for these scammers to create fake photos and make it look like they really found your pet! They say they need even more money in order to get it back, which is awful.

They may even say that the pet has been found but is injured and they need money to take it to the vet. They may also say they need a transportation fee to get your pet back to you. All of these are ways to take your money.
