A wide-ranging voluntary recall has been initiated by Sunshine Mills, Inc. on a variety of the different dog foods it manufactures.  The concern is with elevated levels of Aflatoxin "above the acceptable limit".  While Aflatoxin is a naturally-occurring product from the growth of Aspergillus Flavus, it can be harmful to pets if consumed in large quantities.

Sunshine Mills, Inc. manufactures a number of different dog food products.  The brand names included in the recall (the names consumers would see on store shelves) include Triumph, Evolve, Wild Harvest, Nurture Farms, Pure Being, and Elm.

Here's a run-down of the dog food products included in the recall; the full list is available on the United States Food and Drug Administrations website:

At the present time, there have been no health issues reported in connection with the dog food products included in the recall.  Consumers are urged not to feed the recalled dog foods to their pets.  The U.S. FDS lists signs of Aflatoxin problems you should watch for - including sluggishness, lethargy, a reluctance to eat, vomiting, yellowish tint to the eyes or gums, and diarrhea.

If you believe you have the affected dog food, discontinue use immediately.  Return the unused portion to the store where it was purchased.  Additional questions can be directed at the Sunshine Mills, Inc., Customer Service hotline:  800-705-2111.
