Tater Tots Recall Could Affect Families Across 26 States Including MN + WI
There's been a voluntary recall of 40,000 cases of tater tots in the United States. The tots may contain hard plastic fragments.
38,800 Cases Of Tater Tots Recalled
McCain Foods USA Inc is recalling 38,800 cases of Ore-Ida and Sysco Imperial Tater Tots, which could contain hard plastic fragments. The clear, hard plastic fragments could be a choking hazard.
The tater tots recalled include Ore-Ida Tater Tots shaped potatoes with the UPC Code 1 00 72714 00215 8 and Sysco Imperial Potato Tater Barrel with the UPC code 1 07 34730 62740 0.
McCain Foods is located in Burley, Idaho. You can learn more details about the Class II recall from the United States Food and Drug Administration. A class II recall is a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.

Distributed In 26 States
The teter tots were distributed in Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Hawaii, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wisconsin.
Fortunately, there haven't been any injuries reported yet. The cause of the contamination is still under investigation.
