A student at the College of St. Scholastica that is referred to as "Jake B" captured a video recently, showing a massive school of fish through the ice while ice fishing. This mesmerizing footage of the fish swirling about was captured in about 40 feet of water, according to a Facebook post from the school's physical therapy department Facebook Page.

Adding to the wow factor for this video is how clear the ice is where he is fishing. You can see the school of fish almost perfectly right through what looks like about a foot of ice. Clear ice like this, especially of this thickness, is somewhat rare - especially this time of year. Due to the fact the western portion of Lake Superior froze over in a matter of days, and conditions remained cold enough to keep making ice pretty rapidly, there is ice clear enough to see through and give us this awesome video.

At the time of this post, the video has been watched over 540,000 times, and has been shared over 9,000 times. It's pretty easy to see why it might go viral too, after watching the short, but incredible clip.

Side note - we aren't sure what kind of fish these are. The debate in the comments section for this video offers plenty of legitimate possibilities, as well as some downright incorrect ones.
