Review Of The New Crooked Pint Ale House In Duluth
There has been a plethora of restaurants that have opened up in the Northland and I had the opportunity to visit one of the latest, Crooked Pint Ale House at 1402 W Arrowhead Rd Suite 100 in Duluth. Here is my opinion on my first visit. (meaning there will be more).
I'll start with what I liked. The Ale House itself is very spacious. The decor is done very nicely in dark wood and from where we sat there were two windows that gave you a view into what appeared to be a brewing area, although no one was in that area when we were there. There are huge windows that face the Kenwood Shopping Center that let in a lot of natural light and we would have sat on the patio area had there not been a threat of rain at the time. The server was attentive and seemed to know the menu well.
The Food: We started out with an appetizer of deep fried cheese curds and loved them (after all, they're deep fried cheese curds)! Being half Asian I went for the Asian Pork Tacos. They had great flavor with just the right amount of heat. I would have liked a few more tortilla chips on the side, but as you can see by the picture, the plate presentation was done very nicely and the size of the tacos themselves were big, I ended up taking one home for lunch the next day.
My husband ordered the Walleye Sandwich. He had wanted a Juicy Lucy burger, of which they had several to choose from, but each had a specialty in one way or another and for him, had something he wasn't fond of so he went for the fish. He said it was delicious and again, by the picture you can see the portions and plate presentation
What I wasn't fond of was the parking situation. There is parking in front of the door and we'll use that next time, but since it was our first and we were unaware we, like the other couple we were with pulled into a covered parking lot. We didn't know there was an open air parking area above that. This still would have worked except there were no signs on how to get to the Ale House. I'm assuming because they prefer we park on the top level, but for those that end up there, it would have been nice to have sign directing us. We used our brains, followed our nose and found our way, so it wasn't that big of a deal, just wanted to let you know before you go.
