Report: Aaron Rodgers ‘Disgruntled’, Doesn’t Want To Return To The Team
In the same day news was shared the San Francisco 49ers floated a trade offer to the Green Bay Packers to bring Aaron Rodgers to the Niners, an NFL insider is reporting the reigning NFL MVP is not happy with his current team.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter tweeted Thursday afternoon that Aaron Rodgers is "disgruntled" with the Green Bay Packers. He is reportedly so upset with the team he has told some within the Packers organization he doesn't want to return for another season with the team.
The timing of this news is very interesting, considering the news from earlier today that the 49ers reportedly offered their #3 overall pick in tonight's NFL Draft along with Jimmy Garoppolo and a bunch of other pieces. The Packers reportedly turned the deal down, implying the reigning NFL MVP was their guy going into the new season.
There have been rumors Rodgers has had disagreements with the organization over different things over recent years, with recent notable items including drafting a quarterback in the first round of last year's draft and making a questionable call in the NFC Championship game to kick a field goal, instead of allow Rodgers and the offense to press for a touchdown.
Adding to all of that is contention over contract details. NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport shared Thursday afternoon that Rodgers had his agent in Green Bay trying to work out a contract situation. The team wanted to restructure his deal, and he said no.
With Rodgers unhappy and the Packers reportedly turning down a massive offer and, it looks like things are going to get pretty messy in Green Bay.
If the report is true and the Packers turned it down, do they think they can get a better offer for Rodgers? Do they think they can smooth things over on the contract discussions? If they legitimately want to hold on to #12 and he wants out, how will they navigate that? It creates a lot of drama on one of the biggest days in the NFL year.
