A scenic fall run/walk for a great cause is coming and there's still space available for the 5K-9 Run For The Dogs, which benefits the K-9 units of Northland Police Departments.

5K-9 Run For The Dogs is set for Saturday, October 5 at 9:00 a.m.  The 5K course is an out and back with the start/finish at the Lester Park Pavilion.

The race will start out on the Lester Park nordic trails before transitioning onto Seven Bridges Road, so you'll experience both trail and road running.  Overall, it's a fairly flat course with stable running surfaces.  Both runners and walkers are encouraged to participate.

According to organizers:

The proceeds from this 3rd annual 5k Run / Walk directly support the K-9 units of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Duluth Police Department, Hermantown Police Department, St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office and Superior Police Department. Come participate in this event and meet for yourself some of our local K-9s.

Registration is $30, which benefits the K9s and includes a long sleeve race shirt (the shirt is guaranteed if you register before 9/27/2019).
