Minnesota Twins Bring In Familiar Faces to Fill Coaching Vacancies

After another disappointing season the Minnesota Twins hung on to manager Ron Gardenhire, but fired other key coaches.  Twins fans will be happy to know that some of those roles will be filled by popular players from the Twins past.

StarTribune.com is reporting that former outfielder Tom Brunansky and a former catcher Terry Steinbach will join the Twins next season.  They have also added new bullpen coach Bobby Cuellar.

Brunansky and Cuellar were expected choices for the Twins, but the one surprise was Steinbach coming back into a coaching role, as it was widely speculated that the Twins would promote Class AAA manager Gene Glynn to their big league staff.

Steinbach, a New Ulm native who caught in the majors from 1986 through 1999, will be the bench coach and catching instructor, Ullger will oversee outfield instruction and Vavra will oversee infield instruction.

Coaches are in place, now how about getting some pitching?
