Marquette School Kids Make Police Officer ‘Survival Kits’
This is pretty neat! The Eveleth Police Department posted a thank you to Marquette Catholic School Adventure Program Students. The kids made up goodie bags for the officers that included a cute note depicting what each of the items were for:
- LIfesavers: For the many times you've been one.
- Starburst: For that burst of energy you'll need.
- Hershey Kisses: Because you deserve them from all.
- Gum: To help your unit stick together.
- Payday: Because you're not in it for the money.
- Peppermint Patty: To help you keep your cool.
- Mounds: For the mounds of courage you show.
- An American Flag: Since you keep Americans so safe.
- St. Michael Holy Card: To remind you that the patron saint of police is watching over you.
I reached out to Marquette to find out more about how this idea came to be. Nellie Goshey, coordinator for the after school program, said she had wanted to do something for our officers for a while. Some of the children in the Adventure Program had a parent that was a police officer. So after some searching on Pinterest, they found the idea and the kids put it together and delivered it to the officers.
Nice job!
