Local Colleges and Organizations Present Refugee Awareness Event in Duluth
Local colleges and organizations are coming together to bring awareness to global refugees. It's a two part discussion and film series that will take place Sundays April 15th, and 22nd at the Zeitgeist Arts Center at 222 E. Superior Street.
It's called Global Refugee Situation: Local Response. UWS, The UMD German Studies Program, Alworth Center For Peace and Justice and The College of St. Scholastica all join the presenting sponsor The League of Woman Voters in presenting the series.
First there is a discussion panel that will bring to light the struggles and situations of refugees on April 15th from 6:30-8:30. Local experts that have studied abroad will offer their experiences working with refugees in Germany. Topics include what refugee resettlement looks like on a day to day basis.
The second part of the event will be a screening of the film 'Human Flow.' The film reflects on the diversity of migrant and refugee movements across the globe. The screening takes place on Sunday April 22nd.
