Is March Coming In Like A Lion Or A Lamb?
What does the month ahead hold? That is the question when March rolls around thanks in part to an old saying.
There is a phrase many think about come March - "In like a lion and out like a lamb" or the other way around. Old folklore says the month will start with a vengeance, or like a lion, and end in a mild way, like a lamb. And vice versa. Whether you believe in the myth or not is up to you but it sure is fun to think about.
So what does the Old Farmer's Almanac predict for the Northland in the month ahead? Not a whole lot.
According to their report, March 1st through the 8th will be mild with periods of rain.
We will be spoiled with sunshine and cool, mild temperatures beginning March 9th and carrying through the the 14th.
Rain showers will be the biggest threat March 15th through the 24th but we will still be sunny and mild.
The end of the month will be a bit different. March 25th through the 31st will bring snow and rain showers, followed by showers and mild conditions.
The Old Farmer's Almanac also predicts an average temperature around 35 degrees, which is above average.
Taking this all into consideration, it looks like March may be coming in like a lamb and will go out like a lion. Thankfully, it won't be a big, scary one!
The Old Farmer's Almanac forecasts by region. The upper midwest region includes most of Minnesota and Wisconsin, parts of North and South Dakota and Michigan.
