I Now Have Two Grills Because Of Chicken Wings
In early June, I switched up my grilling game with a flat iron griddle. We needed a new grill and I decided to try out the flat top style because of everything you can cook on it. I made a poor choice though in getting rid of my old charcoal one before trying to cook my favorite grilled thing, chicken wings.
I had looked up various wing recipes to try on the flat top before purchasing and it looked like they wouldn't be too bad. They weren't, but it just wasn't the same as grilled wings over charcoal or even over a standard propane grill. My now wife, encouraged me to grab another grill at Home Depot to grill wings on when we were already buying a new water heater, and I'm glad I did.
Despite the issues I had assembling the Char-Griller Flat Iron, because parts were bent when we opened the box, the Char-Griller charcoal grill displayed seemed more sturdy than others so we bought that. Assembly on this one, the Char-Griller Classic Charcoal, was much easier to get together and while there are some parts like cotter pins that are pretty cheap, it's mostly solid all around.
I'm happy to report, that the 24 pounds of wings I cooked on it, turned out pretty much like grilled wings should. Other than the space that two grills takes up, we now have the ability to cook just about any meal outside which is nice. The flat iron does plenty, but nothing really does beat the taste of charcoal.
