It's been a big year for new arrivals at the Mall of America. The Bloomington mega-mall has spent 2026 stacking its directory with first-to-market brands and buzzy dining spots, from the internationally beloved fashion label Mango to a wave of new stores and restaurants that landed earlier this year — with more still on the way.

One of the biggest hits was Roni's Mac Bar. The build-your-own viral mac and cheese sensation, which blew up on TikTok, opened its doors on Level 3 in April and quickly became a go-to for hungry shoppers across Minnesota.

Now, the mall is welcoming another new restaurant, and this one is a first of its kind for the Mall of America.

A First-Of-Its-Kind Restaurant Comes To Mall Of America

The mall recently announced Fire & Wave, its very first dedicated hot pot restaurant. The interactive concept blends individual hot pot, handcrafted sushi, and live entertainment into one experience, letting guests cook fresh ingredients in a simmering pot of flavorful broth and customize every bite to their own taste.

Diners can choose between two all-you-can-eat options: unlimited hot pot, or the signature hot pot and sushi combination. Individual stations come with a variety of signature broths, quality meats, seafood, fresh vegetables, noodles, tofu, dumplings, and a build-your-own sauce bar.

The combo adds a full sushi menu of rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and small plates like miso soup, edamame, and gyoza, with premium picks such as wagyu beef available à la carte.

The space is designed around two distinct environments. The "Fire Zone" glows with warm orange hues inspired by the energy of hot pot, while the "Wave Zone" leans into cool blue tones and ocean-inspired touches that reflect the freshness of the sushi.

Beyond the food, Fire & Wave plans to host performances from local musicians and artists, celebrating both Asian culture and Twin Cities creatives.

"Fire & Wave reflects the kind of dining experiences today's guests are looking for, which is interactive, social, and personalized," said Chivas Alejo, Director of Leasing Special Projects at Mall of America.

When Does Fire & Wave Open?

Fire & Wave will be located on Level 4, East, and is set to open in Spring 2027. It's the latest sign that the Mall of America keeps reinventing itself and is proof that even a 34-year-old mega-mall can still find fresh ways to bring people to Bloomington.
