Wisconsin’s First Topgolf Is Now Open With Several New Features
It started as a driving range with a clever scoring gimmick, and it turned into one of the most popular nights out in America.
Topgolf now welcomes more than 42 million visits a year across over 100 venues, with a presence in 24 of the country's top 25 media markets. It's become less about golf and more about the food, the music, and hanging out for a couple of hours with friends who couldn't hit a 7-iron if their life depended on it, myself oftentimes included.
For years, neighboring Minnesota got to enjoy the fun while Wisconsin waited. The Gopher State has had a Topgolf in Brooklyn Center since 2018, and it added a second Minnesota venue in Woodbury back in October 2025.
Wisconsin, meanwhile, sat on the sidelines — until August 14, when the state finally got its first-ever venue. And here's the twist: this Topgolf isn't like the others.
Wisconsin's First Topgolf Location
The new venue sits at 6600 Topgolf Way in Monona, just off the Beltline about eight miles east of downtown Madison.

It's the company's 103rd location nationwide, and it brought roughly 200 to 250 jobs with it. For golf fans and casual hangout-seekers across Wisconsin, it's an easy drive from just about anywhere in the southern half of the state.
How This One Is Different
The Monona location is Topgolf's newest prototype — a redesigned version of the venue, not the standard build most people have played.
Here's what sets it apart:
- "My Bay, My Way" Technology: This location introduces a personalized, smartphone-operated feature that lets guests control aspects of their bay experience directly from their phones.
- Reimagined Outfield: The outfield features redesigned targets, upgraded lighting, and new slopes synced to dynamic music-and-light shows.
- Expanded Entertainment: Beyond the standard hitting bays, it incorporates dedicated arcade games directly into the venue layout.
- Enhanced Viewing: It houses a massive 22-foot video wall alongside more than 100 high-definition screens to create an immersive sports-viewing layout.
- Layout: The two-level facility features 72 climate-controlled hitting bays and 12 specialized game-day suites.
Food, Drinks and Membership Perks
As with every Topgolf, the golf is only half the pitch. The venue includes a full-service bar and a chef-led restaurant, with lounge-style seating and high-tops built into each bay.

Memberships start at $20 a month for the PlayMore tier — an hour of monthly play plus a free appetizer — and climb to a Platinum level with free play windows and 20 percent off food and drinks.
A Grand-Opening Giveaway Worth Knowing About
To mark the launch, Topgolf is running a promotion for early guests: anyone who books a reservation between August 14 and 28 is entered to win a free year of gameplay.
Topgolf CEO David McKillips said the company is "excited to bring Topgolf to the Madison area and make Wisconsin our newest home," while Monona Mayor Nancy Moore called it "a terrific recreational and entertainment venue" and "a draw for residents and visitors alike."
Other states may have had a head start, but Wisconsin's first swing was worth the wait — and something tells me it won't be the state's last. If you've been curious what all the fuss is about, now you've finally got a reason to grab a bay and find out.
