Spring must truly be here as the Minnesota Department of Transportation has announced that road construction on I-35 will resume once again on Monday.

Motorists traveling north and south on I-35, just south of Boundary Avenue in Duluth, will be restricted to a single lane beginning Monday, April 29, while crews begin construction of a median crossover, weather permitting. Motorists will be restricted to a single lane for about a mile.

Construction of the crossover is expected to take approximately two weeks. As soon as it is completed, all I-35 traffic will be moved to the southbound lanes.

Crews will also be patching pavement in the southbound lanes to prepare for the upcoming traffic switch.

This is the second year of construction on this $30,107,574 project. The project is scheduled for completion in October 2013.

Project Benefits

  • New concrete
  • New paved shoulders and guardrail
