Keeping up with construction projects in the summer is tough, but we will do our best to keep you on top of things.  The Minnesota Department Of Transportation sent a press release regarding a project near Cotton, Minnesota which may delay travels in northern Minnesota beginning next Monday, June 11.The press release states that Highway 53 motorists will be restricted to a single-lane bypass in Cotton from Monday, June 11, to late-August as crews begin work on a new bridge over the Paleface River. The bypass is less than a mile long; however, motorists may encounter backups.

The new Paleface River Bridge will be the first bridge built in Minnesota using precast deck panels. Use of precast deck panels instead of traditional cast-in-place deck construction reduces construction time and traffic impacts. Statistics also show that this construction method helps reduce worker injuries.

The new bridge will also be safer for motorists. The deck will be coated with an epoxy chip seal, which provides better skid resistance.
