I have been monitoring the map for the Recycling Association of MN because they have a holiday lights recycling program in place, however the closest to us is either Hinckley or Grand Marais.  I was excited to read that Habitat for Humanity of Superior has stepped up and is collecting and recycling your used and or defective holiday lights in the Northland.

According to a report from the Northlands News Center, Habitat for Humanity is collecting the used and defective holiday lights so they don't end up in our landfills.  Again, the cool thing is, while we are protecting the environment it will also benefit local low income families.

There are a number of drop off locations for your convenience including Habitat for Humanity, 1621 Broadway Street, Superior, Campbell's Lumber of Superior, any Twin Ports Super One Foods, and Alco in Moose Lake.

Last date to drop off your lights is January 8th, 2014.
