Greater Downtown Council Announces New Convenient Parking Options
Downtown Duluth has a lot to offer for Christmas shopping and throughout the year. However, parking hassles can make going downtown an inconvenience. It's with that in mind that the Greater Downtown Council has made a timely announcement.
According to the GDC, they've been working with the City of Duluth to develop a parking program to assist businesses and their customers during the upcoming reconstruction of Superior Street.
They have announced that 7 downtown Duluth parking ramps will be offering “First Hour Free” parking. This new program is going on now and will continue throughout the Superior Street Reconstruction project.
Those ramps participating include: 4th Avenue Auto Park, Duluth Transportation Center, US Bank Ramp, Medical District Ramp, Hart District Ramp, Tech Village Ramp and the Civic Center Ramp.
For further parking convenience, there is the "Park Duluth" app which allows people to quickly and easily pay for parking or extend their sessions remotely.
This app will soon be available at more than 2,800 parking spaces throughout the city and on the UMD campus. The parking meters will still accept coin payments as well as the smartphone payment option.
This additional option should be available for all applicable spaces over the next several weeks.
