Grandma’s Marathon, YAF, Donate Socks To Life House

The announcement was made via email of 500 pairs of socks to be donated to Life House Duluth after a successful 2020 “Sock Drive.”

The press release says that over the past year, that participants of YAD events have been offered a chance to purchase a pair of socks, and can ask to donate them to children of the Life House. A total of 105 people donated and then Grandma's Marathon brought the total up to 500.

Shane Bauer, Executive Director for Grandma's Marathon said in the press release that Grandma's Marathon loves giving back to the community and it speaks loudly from the people that take part in the events too. Shane went on to say that the timing of the holidays means it's getting cold and he hopes the donation can help the youth of Life House.

Life House has been providing for the needs of homeless youth in the area and has five programs to address the needs of homeless youth who come seeking help from Life House: Some of the services are Youth Drop-In Center, Mental Health & Wellness, Housing, Futures Education & Employment, and Safe Harbor.

The Life House staff include Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors, Licensed Teachers, Masters and Bachelors of Social Work and Psychology, and people who have first had experience with homelessness themselves.

The sock donation is one step of help that the YAF can provide and it is great that the participants found it important to donate as well.
