We're all trying to stretch a dollar, right? Gas is expensive, grocery prices remain incredibly high, and nothing is getting cheaper. But there's a way you can make some easy cash just by using what you already own.

This year is Grandma's Marathon's 50th Anniversary. The race started back in 1976 and has grown to be a world-class event. It has been so popular for runners to come from out of town that it's impossible to find a hotel room. If you are lucky enough to get one early, you're likely paying around $1,000 for a minimum 2-night stay.

The other option many runners from out of town use is Airbnb and VRBO rentals. It's a very lucrative weekend, as people are willing to pay 4-5 times more for the Marathon Weekend. I'm not saying price-gouging is ok, but being competitively priced is capitalism.

Renting Out Your Home Or Room

A quick search on Airbnb shows some locations still available for the June 19-21 weekend. A 3-bedroom condo in Two Harbors at the race start is going for $4,087 a night. A studio apartment above a garage in Duluth is going for $1200 for two nights.

Rent Out Your Camper

People love renting a camper. It's a fun experience! If your camper is all set up, ready for your guests, you can expect to make an easy $1,000 for two nights.

For People Still Looking For A Room, There's Hope

Savvy marathon runners know to check in with hotels on May 1st, as that is a cancellation deadline for many people. Inevitably, some people cancel their marathon plans, and that will leave an opening. Just be sure you're going to run it, as after that point, most places won't allow you to cancel.
