Scams are nothing new but a new scam I came across is different from the others in that it could involve a face-to-face confrontation with the scammer! This scam was reported in small town Minnesota.

There are many scams that circulate these days, especially as we navigate post-pandemic life. For example, scammers are taking advantage of concert tickets mainly going online now and setting up fake ticket-selling websites.

There are even scarier scams, too. Over the summer, a man fell for a scam involving a kidnapping hoax. Scammers told him they had his daughter and were so convincing, he went to a local gas station and took a large amount of money out.

Scammers even took advantage of the nationwide baby formula shortage earlier this year. It got so bad that the Better Business Bureau had to issue a warning about it and told people what to look out for.

Now, there's another scam to look out for. This one was reported in a small town in Minnesota but really could happen anywhere, in a Minnesota town big or small. Officials with Good Thunder, Minnesota first reported it.

They reported the scam in late September and shared that several residents had brought it to their attention. This scam is scary in that the scammer tells the person on the other end of the line that they are in the area and are coming to collect.

The person on the other end of the line is male and tells the victim of the scam they are coming to get their four-hundred dollars. Thankfully, it hasn't gotten to that but I would be really scared if someone told me that on the phone.

If you get a phone call like this, call the cops and report it so that the police can be aware. Like I said, this scam could happen absolutely anywhere! I would be scared if I received a call like this, scam or not.

Good Thunder is a small town located in southern Minnesota. If it can happen there, it could easily happen in Duluth or Superior. Let's hope it doesn't.
