It's an amazing photo isn't it?  Locals will recognize this as the lighthouse on the pier by the Aerial Lift Bridge.  My friend and photographer, Marcie Crain took the photo at the height of the storm showing an angry Lake Superior.  Imagine what she went through to get the shot while standing on the Lakewalk.  The Lakewalk that is now buried under rock, ice and snow and may be until next Spring.

While trying to capture the fury of the storm, Marcie feared for her vehicle hoping it wouldn't be hit by debris.  She also said that she and another photographer were taking turns covering each other from the wind and snow and had to have a bag wrapped around her camera most of the time for protection.  I wish the same could have been done for our Canal Park beach and beautiful Lakewalk.  The storm changed the terrain of the beach and threw rocks and debris on the Lakewalk and adjacent roadway making walking difficult and running near impossible.  It even pushed the wooden crib further up and it is now beached.  It use to sit several feet off the beach in the water.

It will take lots of manpower and time to get it cleaned off.  The City of Duluth is conducting maintenance however, it's a big job and they request that you do not use the Lakewalk Trail between the Sister Cities Park and the Aerial Lift
Bridge due to the recent high winds and snow event making the trail impassable.

Here's what we were met with when we tried to run on Sunday morning, just two days after the storm.
