Farmers’ Almanac: Upcoming Winter Will Be A Polar Coaster
This doesn't sound too promising.
The Farmers' Almanac released their predictions for the 2019 / 2020 winter season and they are calling it a polar coaster.
So what exactly does this entail? According to their report, this upcoming winter will "be filled with so many ups and downs on the thermometer" it will remind you of a roller coaster. Yikes.
Let's break down what else they had to say.
- It will be cold, especially for areas east of the Rockies and all the way to the Appalachians.
- Minnesota will be frigid and snowy while Wisconsin will be frozen and snowy.
- We can expect "free falling, frigid temperatures" from the northern plains to the Great Lakes.
- Only the western third of the country will see normal, average winter temperatures.
- The coldest snap of the season will come the final week of January and last through the beginning of February.
- We can expect above-normal winter precipitation in the midwest.
- Winter will linger across the midwest, with winter-like conditions hanging on through April.
Sigh. Even if you like winter, this sounds absolutely brutal!
If you're cringing after reading about what is in store for us, don't fret - here are four reasons a polar coaster winter won't be that bad for us here in the Northland.
