Extra Law Enforcement On Minnesota Roads Through 2021

The holiday season is a time when many of us travel to see our family and with time off near the end of the year, many go out and get together with friends. While things are a bit different this year due to COVID-19 coronavirus, there will still be extra law enforcement on roads through the new year.

The Minnesota State Patrol announced the news on their Twitter account recently, stating that we can expect the extra law enforcement through December 31st, which is a popular time to go out and party.

In announcing this news, the Minnesota State Patrol shared a sobering statistic regarding DWI totals during the holiday season, sharing that half of all traffic fatalities during Thanksgiving last year included drunk driving.

The time between Thanksgiving and New Year's is a very popular, if not the most popular, time to go out and get drunk. Even though things are looking a little different this year, people will still find ways to celebrate the holidays, even if it isn't in a bar or restaurant. The MSP touched on this on their social media pages as well, stating that the same rules apply even amidst the pandemic. Do not get behind the wheel if you've been drinking and if you are at a party at someone's home, stay put.

This comes after Minnesota hit a grim milestone. In mid-October, the Minnesota State Patrol shared that there had been over three-hundred traffic deaths in the state up until that time.
