The Duluth Public School announced the 2019 recipient of the Greg Irons Award. Laura LaFontaine is being recognized this year for her outstanding work. The award goes yearly to a teacher that recognizes the worth of every student and the potential of what they can achieve.

The award is named after Greg Irons, a former Duluth science teacher who was known for his devotion to teaching and providing all students opportunities to succeed. He died tragically in a hunting accident in 1989. The award was created to honor his legacy.

Teachers and Students can receive the award, which comes with $500. You can nominate students or staff through the Duluth Superior Community Foundation.

Congratulations to Laura Fontaine on continuing the legacy of serving the students and community!
