While there are plenty of awards to make a toast about in the City of Duluth, turns out maybe too many people are getting toasted.  That's according to a recent study that ranks cities in each state by how drunk they are.   Duluth is #1 on the list in Minnesota.

MSN Health and Fitness website released the data showing that Duluth reports higher than average binge drinking or heavy drinking at 21%.  The state average is 19.3%, so that's just slightly higher.  The national average is 15%, so Duluth definitely has a drink or two on the rest of the nation.

While heavy drinking can lead to health problems, in this case Duluth actually doesn't fare too bad.  Only 10.3% of people report poor help in the City.  The MN State Average is 10.5%, so while Duluth drinks more, it doesn't appear to make a difference with health data.

Honestly, I think if they had surveyed smaller rural towns in this study, Duluth wouldn't even have come close to the top.  But this is a national survey, and they only focus on larger cities.

The drunkest city in Wisconsin was Appleton.  They had a much higher binge drinking number of 29.8% of people reporting heavy drinking habits.  The average for drinking in Wisconsin state wide is 24.4%, which is notably higher than Duluth's percentage.

The study doesn't say anything about Superior, but I would imagine if Wisconsin's state average is higher than Duluth's, Superior is probably a drunker city than Duluth.  But that's just a speculation from personal experience.
