A FREE ride!  This will be available to all passengers that are riding fixed-route service fares on election day, Tuesday, November 4.  You will find the fare boxes covered with paper bags that state, “FREE RIDES VOTE TODAY!”

There will be some exclusions to the free fares.  STRIDE service and passengers boarding DTA Routes 16 and 17 in Superior, WI. However, those who board Route 16 in Duluth with a destination of Superior, WI will still qualify for a free fare.

According to Heath Hickok, DTA's Director of Marketing, "this is in accordance with Section 39 of Chapter 312 of House File Number 3172 titled: Transit Service on Election Day. It states, “An eligible recipient of operating assistance under Minnesota Statutes, section 174.24, who contracts or has contracted to provide fixed route public transit shall provide fixed route public transit service free of charge on a day a state general election is held.”
