Drunk Drives Up The Wisconsin Capitol Steps, Not Politically Motivated
Here's a bizarre story for you today. A Wisconsin man has been arrested after driving his car up the Wisconsin State Capitol in Madison Wisconsin. With the United States Capitol being stormed recently, state capitol buildings have been on high alert.. Obviously with these recent events, you would expect that when a vehicle drives up the stairs it would be politically motivated. Police say that is not the case.
According to Fox 11 News, 44 year old Willie Burks of Madison Wisconsin drove his vehicle up the exterior steps of the Wisconsin Capitol grounds on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and also around the exterior of the statehouse around 9:30pm.
He wasn't done there, as he then drove away into oncoming traffic before he ultimately parked his car. Thank God no one was hurt. Burks was arrested and charged with his third time for driving under the influence and transported to the Dane County Jail.
The Wisconsin State Capitol is now under heavy security. The first floor windows have been boarded up. There are now barricades and concrete barriers along the entrances. Members from the Wisconsin National Guard have been seen entering the Capitol building according to madison.com. As of Sunday there have not been any politically motivated protests or riots.
Violent threats, protests, and potential riots have threatened all 50 state capitol buildings ahead of President-elect Joe Biden's Inauguration on Wednesday, January 20.
