There were only two items I remembered hearing about this year for the State Fair, both were beer.  Barley John's Brewing had a Dill Pickle beer, and there was also Flat Earth's S'Mores beer.  I'm not really a beer drinker, I prefer cocktails, but I don't dislike beer.  I had to try one of them at least.  Both beers were available at Giggles' Campfire Grill at the fair.

My buddy was buying this round and I opted for the dill pickle.  He ordered me the 20 ounce which, while very nice of him, was a bit too much of whatever this brew was.  The beer came to me with some accompaniments hanging out on top.  Dill cheese, and a dill pickle.  Both lacked flavor which was disappointing because so did the beer.  It just wasn't that good, lacking dill and pickle flavor.  It tasted like a Michelob Golden Light with some cheap dill thrown in it.  I could make this at home, one could probably do better just adding pickle juice to any light beer.

I get it, it's a novelty type thing, it just didn't impress this guy.  I did finish it all, but would I drink it again?  Sure, if it was free and maybe 12 ounces.  I'll have to try the S'Mores beer next year.  Until then, I'll pass if the Dill Pickle shows up on a bar menu.  If you tried it, what did you think?
