Deicing To Begin On Aerial Lift Bridge Tuesday Morning, Will Cause Traffic Delays
We learned yesterday that the Aerial Lift Bridge was out of operation due to the weight of ice from this weekend's storm. Crews will begin the deicing process at 10 am Tuesday morning, which will lead to some travel restrictions across the bridge.
In a statement from the City of Duluth, it was explained that crews will be working on deicing in 15 minute intervals, closing the bridge for 15 minutes at a time to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic. The bridge will then reopen for 15 minutes to allow traffic to pass, then it will close again for 15 minutes to allow for more deicing. This cycle will repeat until crews have completed the deicing project.
