Dan + Shay Bring Hits, New Songs to ‘Today’ Concert Series [Watch]
Dan + Shay lit up the the Today Show's 2018 Citi Concert Series with their soulful harmonies Monday morning (June 25), performing “Tequila," "All to Myself" and "Nothing Like You."
The duo celebrated the release of their self-titled album with a performance on the morning show, infusing a dose of energy into the crowd of fans who had gathered bright and early for the occasion. The team of Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney delighted the crowd with tracks off their new album, along with one of their signature hits.
Fan-favorite "Tequila" had the crowd singing along to every word, with Mooney's vocals sounding as pure as always, while the breezy "All to Myself" invited the masses to sway to the beat.
The same can be said for the upbeat "Nothing Like You," which kicked the energy up a notch with its playful melody. In spite of the early morning hour, both the duo and fans alike were in high spirits. The country stars made it a point to engage with the audience in each performance, making their way to the stage in the middle of the crowd where they beckoned them to join in the song, the group of eager fans happily obliging.
The chart-topping duo is one of several country stars to participate in the Today Citi Concert Series in 2018, with Lady Antebellum, Keith Urban and Cole Swindell set to perform later in the summer.
Dan + Shay's 2018 album dropped on Friday (June 22), and its lead single, "Tequila," has already reached No. 2 on Billboard's Country Airplay and Hot Country Songs charts.
“I feel like this is the first time we really nailed it telling our story, saying what we want to say and putting the songs out that sound like we want to sound and how we want to be perceived. It feels really special, the whole body of work," Smyers tells Taste of Country about the project.
The duo are currently travelling across the U.S. with Rascal Flatts on the 2018 Back to Us Tour through September.
