Most if not all area schools were closed on Wednesday, March 16 due to a powerful Spring winter storm that was to hit the region.  On Thursday, March 17, the Cloquet School District will be closed for a different kind of hit, a computer virus.

According to the Cloquet Pine Journal, the virus is known as ransomware.  Superintendent Ken Scarbrough has asked that students, parents and staff refrain from signing on to the District's site to allow technicians time to work on restoration of the site.  In an email, Superintendent Scarbrough detailed the vital services that were affected.  He is expecting the server integrity restoration to take a day.
