If you get a very real looking letter and check in the mail claiming you've won money from Publishers Clearing House, do not attempt to cash the check.

The Cloquet Police Department posted the following warning on their Facebook page:

An officer just took a report of a fraudulent Publisher Clearing House letter and check. The officer investigated through PCH and found the winner's notice and check to be fake. Please be advised of this very realistic looking fraud attempt and share with your family members who may not be on Facebook or tech savvy.

PCH will never send a partial check and ask for any reimbursement.

That old saying about how if something seems to good to be true, it probably is, fits here.  Besides, based on those TV commercials, doesn't Publishers Clearing House show up in at your house in a van and then knock on your door holding balloons and a big check?
