Summer is here which means we are soaking in every single second in the Northland. This means a ton of time outside and a more laid back lifestyle.
After all, we are cooped up in our houses all winter long along with everyone else. When nice weather rolls around, we let our guards down a bit more.

That's exactly why one local police department is reminding its residents to be a little bit more cautious now that it's nice outside.
Their tips and tricks on keeping your things secure and being more aware of your surroundings is relevant no matter where you live in our neck of the woods.
Cloquet Police Department Warns Residents To Lock Up Their Bikes
Now that the weather is nice, many residents are biking places. However, according to the Cloquet PD, four bikes were stolen this past weekend.

The Cloquet Police Department suggests buying a bike lock no matter where you are going, even if you think no one would ever steal your bike. Two were stolen from the library!
The Cloquet Police Department is also urging residents to close their garage doors at night, even if you don't have anything super valuable inside. They also suggest locking your shed and any other building you have outdoors.
Cloquet Police Warn Of Increased Vehicle Prowls In The Area
Sadly, vehicle prowls also seemingly uptick when the weather turns nice. In their post, the Cloquet PD recommends that everyone locks their car doors, especially at night.
This might seem obvious but I know way too many people that don't because they think they have nothing valuable!

How To Protect Yourself From Vehicle Prowls & Thefts
Of course, report any vehicle prowls or thefts to the Cloquet Police Department. Even if nothing was taken, it helps them keep track of the crimes.
They also suggest getting outdoor lights and security cameras, like a doorbell camera. This can help deter criminals and catch them in the act. It can be expensive but worth it to protect your valuables.
