Not again! I was hoping this was just a prank or a headline disguised as one but unfortunately, it seems to be real. This all has to do with clowns so read on if you're brave.

Remember awhile back when people were dressing up as clowns for no good reason other than to be scary? Well, that is happening again in a similar fashion.

2019 sticks out in my mind as the height of the craze, when people all across Minnesota were tying red balloons to sewer grates in honor of Pennywise, the killer clown, of course.

It was even worse a few years earlier, in 2016, when people were dressing up as creepy clowns all over the country and the state. Now, something similar has happened in Cloquet and I am not okay with this!

Clown Sightings Reported Around Cloquet

My coworker told me about this and I had to look it up to see if it was real! Sure enough, it appears to be. The Pine Journal confirmed the clown sightings on Thursday (October 16th), writing that the Cloquet Police Department has received reports of a 'clown chasing bystanders' around the town.

However, they also shut down a bunch of rumors that have been going around about the clown sighting: there are not multiple clowns and the clown is not armed with anything. I guess this puts my mind at ease a little?

The Pine Journal says that there have been two reported sightings, which is two more than necessary. Yes, clowns are normal in October because it is Halloween but if I see a random clown in the middle of the day, I will be turning and running the other way.

If you do a quick Facebook search for 'clowns in Cloquet' on Facebook, you will see a ton of different posts with people inquiring about said clowns. One local said that the clowns are targeting kids that are part of music at the local schools, which gets out late at night.

Another local said that her daughter was chased by a clown just the other day, while another person said they have been spotted in three top areas: Veterans Park, Doddridge Avenue and the Kwik Trip in Scanlon. Other locals weighed in saying that clowns were shining lights into people's windows in the area, which is incredibly scary!

We all know how fast things spread or get changed like a game of telephone! I just hope this doesn't escalate as it gets closer to Halloween. Someone could get seriously hurt - including anyone dressed as a clown.

Even if this is just one clown, as seems to be the case, let's just save the costumes for Halloween. As a clown hater, I can safely say that should stay in the closet unless you have a Halloween event to attend. Ha!
