The Cloquet-Esko-Carlton girls hockey team are making the most out of their first state appearance in over a decade, blanking Hutchinson to advance to the State Class A semifinals.

One minute and thirty seconds into their first state tournament experience in 11 years, Lumberjacks senior Jenna Zdebski opened scoring with an early goal. Dana Jones, who had an assist on Zdebski's goal, found the net for herself late in the first period, giving CEC a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission.

The Lumberjacks defense and goalie Araya Kiminski held off the Hutchinson offense through the rest of the game, with Kiminski making 18 saves.

Three-seed CEC advances to play the #2 seeded Warroad on Friday at 11 am at the Xcel Energy Center for a chance to play in the Class A Championship at 4 pm on Saturday.
