CHUM Looking For Backpacks and School Supplies to Help Local Students
Summer is here, but soon it'll be time for students to think about heading back to school. For many Northland students, getting the necessary school supplies can be a challenge, so CHUM is looking for help.
CHUM is currently looking for donations of backpacks and school supplies to help local kids, and there are several ways you can donate:
- You can purchase backpacks and the supplies listed below and bring them to the CHUM Food Shelf at 120 North 1st Ave. West, weekdays between 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
- You can visit the CHUM website and order supplies online for $7.32.
- You can also send or drop off a check to the CHUM downtown Duluth office, with "Backpacks" written on the memo.
If you want to purchase on your own, here are the items that are being requested for this campaign:
Wide Ruled Notebooks
College Ruled Notebooks
College Rule Loose Leaf Paper Pocket Folders
Box of Crayons
Colored Pencils
Backpacks
Donations will be accepted through August 15. CHUM, along with Duluth Public Schools and Union Gospel Mission, will then host a Back to School Fair on Thursday, August 31, where families with limited resources can receive the school supplies and the backpacks they need.
