Chevrolet has announced a huge recall for it's bigger trucks and SUVs built in recent years, due to a brake problem.

It affects Silverado Models 1500, 2500, 3500 built in model years 2014-2018. It's not just the trucks, it also applies to certain sport utility vehicles. The Cadillac Escalades from 2015-2017, and the GMC Yukon and Chevy Suburban from model years 2015-2018.

This comes after a NHTSA investigation, according to USA TODAY.

The issue with the brakes is a pump in the power brakes that can weaken over time, leading to longer stopping distances and increased risk of crashing. The fix is an electronic control module being reprogrammed, and GM will replace it at no cost to vehicle owners.

GM says that even with the reduced performance that the vehicles meet requirements for stopping distances, but are cooperating with the NHTSA regardless.
