Chevrolet has announced a huge recall for it's bigger trucks and SUVs built in recent years, due to a brake problem.

One of the most exciting things to happen in the automotive industry is the introduction of the aluminum body from Ford.  It's lighter, less likely to dent (because lighter means they can make it thicker), and also more costly.  Edmunds.com did a great video on what happens if you need body work done to an aluminum truck.  Would it be more expensive?

I've got a pretty cool job and from time to time that means I get to do some pretty cool things... For example, get to drive a $150,000 truck simulator for training and safety at Halvor Lines yesterday.   After having a few scenarios thrown at me, I appreciate our truckers a lot more.

Early in the year I had blogged that Minnesota commercial licensed drivers needed to comply with federal and state regulation or lose their driving privileges.  I also told you it had to happen before the end of January.  There are still one-third of drivers that have not yet complied.  If you're in that number take action now!

In a press release from the MN Department of Safety they state that 46% of commercial drivers are currently not compliant with federal and state regulations and could lose commercial driving privileges.  If you drive commercially for a living you need to read this information and pass it on to others in your company. If there’s one thing that just screams country music, it’s a song about a big ol’ truck. Clearly, that’s why so many of the biggest names in the biz have laid their vocal stamp on tunes that describe oversized spinning wheels and extreme horsepower, women with a thing for large bumpers, and generally, rides that put others on the road to shame.

I once heard a southern comedian say, any self respectin' country lover has a truck, and it's gotta be a Ford. Now I don't know if they were being paid to say that. (From my observation, it's either Ford or Chevy.) So I know this will include many people who listen to country music, not to mention people that are in the south east or love a football team in the SEC...
